Media massa seperti surat kabar, majalah, radio, televisi, dan internet berkembang mengikuti kemajuan berpikir manusia. Kemajuan teknologi komunikasi massa berpengaruh besar pada kehidupan politik, sosial, ekonomi, dan kebudayaan. Model-Model Komunikasi Massa Model Alir dua tahap Dikemukaan oleh Lazarfeld, Berelson, dan Gaudet pada tahun 1948. Riset yang melahirkan teori difusi dan pengaruh dilakukan pada tahun 1940 oleh Paul Lazarsfeld terhadap masyarakat kota New York.
